Andrew Sherman brings two decades of extraordinary musical experience to his role as Creative Director/ Composer at Butter.
He has scored thousands of commercials - Awards for campaigns/spots scored include Clios, AICPs, LIAAs, Lions, Pencils...
His compositions have been recorded on Virgin/EMI/EastWest/Shanacie labels and include songs for the Latin Grammy winning "This Side of Paradise” by Nestor Torres. Additional production credits include co-producing one of Entertainment Weekly's picks for the best albums of 2004 (Joseph Arthur's "Our Shadows Will Remain), producing "You're So True” from the Shrek 2 soundtrack, and a variety of albums for New York and Nashville singers and songwriters.
Andrew’s theater writing career began in 1998 at Moonwork (NYC), where he composed the scores for musical versions of Shakespeare's What You Will, Midsummer Night's Dream and Edgar Lee Masters’ Spoon River Anthology among others. Off Broadway he composed the score for Debbie Does Dallas, produced the original cast CD, and is a member of the BMI Musical Theater Workshop, with 2 shows "in the works".
While launching his career as composer, Andrew toured as a sideman accompanying (among others) Patti Austin, Walter Beasley, Jonathan Butler, Mariah Carey, George Duke, Julia Darling, Dizzy Gillespie, Lalah Hathaway,Brian McKnight, Redtime, and The Brooklyn Boogaloo Blowout. As artist, Mr. Sherman had a brief and educational recording career as half of the hip hop jazz duo Bread and Butter (East/West).
During his spare time, Andrew composes for The 52nd Street Project, a non-profit children's after school program in Hell’s Kitchen. He currently resides in Brooklyn, New York where he continues to perform with his band, The Brooklyn Boogaloo Blowout. It is a blowout.
